My recent stay at Rain Forest Guest House was an absolute delight. Nestled in the heart of Bukit Lawang, this locally-owned gem oozes charm and a friendly vibe, truly reflecting the spirit of the community. The on-site bar was perfect for unwinding after a long day of hiking, and we enjoyed some laughs over cocktails while catching up with fellow travelers. Our two-day jungle trek, guided by the thoughtful Joseph and Evon, was exhilarating! We were lucky enough to spot several orangutans, hugging trees while serenading us with their playful antics. Joseph's gentle approach to wildlife conservation was refreshing - he truly understands the importance of respecting nature, unlike some guides we noticed. The accommodations were simple yet cozy, featuring a lovely balcony with a soothing river view, which was perfect for morning coffee with my travel companion. If you're looking for a budget-friendly and authentic experience that supports local efforts, I can't recommend Rain Forest enough.
